King Edward Private School

History

The Grand Edwardian manor was erected in 1909.

Located in King Edward Ave, later named Church Ave and currently named Walter Sisulu Ave.

The manor was constructed during the reign of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom. It was the residence of Dr Allen Boyd, a respected and well-loved District Surgeon, who emigrated from the United Kingdom to South Africa.

The house was later used as a maternity hospital, a girl’s school hostel, a music school and a boarding house.

Since 6 January 2015 grand manor has been home to King Edward Preschool. The Foundation School Campus at 16 Ayres Street has been open since 10 January 2023.
